It should be valuable for a "power-user" who engages in the creation of catalog items or in making them accessible to others.

A user who is contented to just start and use workspaces might appreciate the background information but would not require it, necessarily.

Either way, it is useful to have some basic experience with using Research Cloud before starting out to make your catalog items.

It is also a good idea to read the chapter Working together in order to understand Research Cloud's concept of identity and collaboration.
