A new project folder can by default be created by a Research Drive user with the role Contract Admin or Dashboard Admin.

Create a projectfolder as user

As a user, you're only be able to create project folders up to a predetermined number, based on given personal or contract permissions.

At the Project folder tab, you can click on the "Create" button, where the pop-up below appears.
The available quotum options may vary and depend on the quotas set on the contract.

Once the project folder has been created, you will be notified by email.

Custom quotum

Preselected storage quotas are by default available. If these are not satisfactory, a custom quota can also be entered.

Project Folder Naming

The name of a project environment may contain a maximum of 50 characters. If you attempt to make a Projectfolder special characters it will not transition to active although it will be listed in the dashboard as new, it will not be useable. Some special characters are allowed however we recommend that you never use special characters in a project or file name. This is because it can cause issues in various filesystems when users try to connect to Research Drive via the Desktop Client or WebDAV. This list is indicative not exhaustive(there are hundreds of special characters).

< (less than)
> (greater than)
: (colon - sometimes works, but is actually NTFS Alternate Data Streams)
" (double quote)
/ (forward slash)
\ (backslash)
| (vertical bar or pipe)
? (question mark)
* (asterisk)

File name length

The length of the name of a file is not limited by Research Drive. Its limit depends on the underlying file system.

Visibility

The Project Folder Owner will find the project folder within the Research Drive environment via the menu option "Shared with you" on the left.

Visibility to members

A project folder will only be visible to members other than the Project Folder Owner after sharing the folder with these users.
