When you run out of credits in your wallet and no further action is taken to top it up, you can no longer use your SRC resources.

Your workspaces will be paused, and your other resources, such as storage volumes, IP, and network, will go to the “unaccounted” state.

An unaccounted workspace remains paused while there are no credits. If a workspace remains paused for a longer time, it will be removed. In 152 days, you will receive a warning about your long-paused workspace. And if the workspace is not resumed in 28 days after the warning, the workspace will be removed.

If a workspace with a valid wallet has one or more unaccounted resources (network, IP, or storage volume) attached, it cannot be resumed. Unaccounted storage volumes can be detached from a workspace, which can then be resumed if it has a valid wallet.

Depleted wallet

When your wallet runs out of credits or your contract expires without being renewed, you will no longer be able to use your SRC resources.

  • Workspaces will be paused.
  • Other resources, such as storage volumes, IP addresses, and networks, will enter an "unaccounted" state.

Unaccounted Resources

An unaccounted workspace cannot be resumed and will remain paused as long as there are no credits in the wallet. If the workspace remains paused for an extended period, it is subject to removal:

  • After 90 days, you will receive a warning about the long-paused workspace.
  • If no action is taken within 28 days of the warning, the workspace will be permanently removed.

Resuming Workspaces with Unaccounted Resources

If a workspace with a valid wallet has one or more unaccounted resources (such as a storage volume, IP address, or network) still attached, it cannot be resumed.

To resume such a workspace:

  • Detach any unaccounted storage volumes.
  • Once no unaccounted resources are attached and the wallet is funded, the workspace can be resumed.

Once detached, an unaccounted storage volume cannot be attached to any workspace till they have a valid wallet.

Please note that unaccounted IP and networks cannot be detached. The only solution to restart a workspace with unaccounted IP and networks is to top up the wallet.

You can delete an unaccounted workspace or a workspace with unaccounted resources attached.

How to get more credits into your wallet?

If your resources become unaccounted and you wish to continue using them, you can top up the credits in the wallet associated with those resources. To do this, first identify the source of the credits in your wallet—this determines the appropriate next steps:

  • Credits from the RCCS Contract: contact the budget owner within your institution and request a credit top-up for your wallet.
  • Credits from a Small NWO Compute Grant: you will need to apply for a new grant, referencing your existing grant number. Note: You may only apply for a Small NWO compute grant once per calendar year.
