All workspaces are volatile.
Once a workspace is closed, it is gone. Data and all.
All is lost, unless you make sure that any data you want to reuse is located on a persistent storage volume or on external storage.
ResearchDrive, for instance is a great way to make your data actually persistent.
Prepare for incidents
Not only are workspaces volatile. Things can just go wrong, too.
Unlike commercial cloud providers, Research Cloud does not automatically back up your data or the state of your workspaces.
Therefore, think about persistence and resilience at the moment that you start a workspace.
