SURF Research Cloud offers a turn-key Nginx component that can be placed before the external component.
To give you an example how to configure your own application or web page, we have created a demo catalog item.
"Demo Web Apps via Nginx"
To get started, you can just start a workspace with the catalog item "Web Apps via Nginx" and inspect the nginx configuration in
/etc/nginx/app-location-conf.d/authentication.conf
You can also go to the gitlab repository page of the component that configures the workspace.
In the README.md file you will find some explanation and the playbook.yml file contains the configuration that is made.
Authentication via SRAM
Some of the items on this workspace are protected by an SRAM login.
Only members of the workspace's collaboration are allowed to log in.
As of autumn 2025, this is a new feature and a new catalog item.
We encourage you to test whether the login works as intended.
