There are two ways to join a collaboration in SRAM:
- A collaboration administrator sends you an invitation via email. You accept the invitation to become a member of the collaboration.
- You request to join the collaboration via a special link. Your request is reviewed and approved (or denied) by a collaboration administrator.
Join a collaboration via invitation
If you're invited, the following happens, although the exact flow depends on whether you have already used SRAM before.
1. Receive invitation via email
You receive an invitation to join a research collaboration via email. Click the "Join this collaboration" button to proceed.
2. Accept the invitation
This brings you to this Research Access Management web page. Click the "Log in to accept the invite" button to proceed.
3. Log in
Use the search box to select either your institutional account or a guest identity provider like eduID and login using your institutional credentials.
4. Review the information that will be shared
After review, click Proceed to SURF Research Access Management.
5. Accept the Acceptable Use Policy
If you haven't used Research Access Management before, or if the Acceptable Use Policy has changed since your most recent authentication, you must accept its Acceptable Use Policy.
6. Review and accept collaboration details and application acceptable use policies
You will be shown a page with details for the collaboration you have been invited to. Applications used by the collaboration may require you to accept their Acceptable Use Policy before you can join the collaboration.
7. Use the applications
You are now a member of the collaboration you were invited to. Any applications linked to the collaboration should be accessible for you.
Join a collaboration via request
Every collaboration in SRAM has a special link available for collaboration administrators. Upon clicking the link, you can view some details and request to join the collaboration.
The collaboration administrators are notified that you have requested to join, and can review and take action on your request.
1. Receive the join request link
The link may be provided to you via a collaboration administrator. Sometimes, the link may be posted publicly, or provided during a project onboarding process.
2. Use the join request link
When you visit the link in your browser, you will first login to the SRAM platform using your home institution credentials.
After authenticating, some details about the collaboration you wish to join will be displayed, for example the applications which are connected to the application and the organisation which is responsible for the collaboration.
After reviewing the information, click the Request to join collaboration button.
3. Submit your join request
Finish the process by adding your justification, which will assist the collaboration administrator in taking action on your request.
4. Administrator reviews and takes action on your join request
The collaboration administrator will be notified of your join request. They will review it and your justification, and either approve or deny your request accordingly. You will be notified via email when your request has been approved or denied.
