A collaboration admin can create groups within the collaboration and assign members to the groups. Whenever a user logs in to an application connected to that collaboration, their group membership information is released to the application. The application can use that information for authorization: deciding who is allowed access to what functions or data. For example, if a user must be assigned an admin role in the research application, create a group 'admin' in SRAM and configure the application to automatically assign users with that group membership the admin role in the application. Or a group can be used to give members permission to access certain data in the application.
As a member, in the groups tab you can see whether you're a member of any group within the collaboration.
Clicking a group row in the table will bring the details about the group, and allows managing its members.
Using the pencil button in the header of a group, takes and admin to the form where the details of the group are displayed and editable, and where auto-provisioning can be enabled and disabled. Auto-provisioning for a group means that all members of the collaboration are automatically member of the group.
