In this document we describe the steps to connect your Statista instance to SURFconext.

What you'll need:

Start to configure Statista

To start the registration, follow the link you got from Statista  (e.g. https://login.statista.com/self-service/connections-flow?ticket='string'). Follow the steps from the manual as shown here https://www.statista.com/site/oidc

Some things to take into account before you start:

  • For the ClientID, make up something specific to your institution. E.g.: statista.universiteitvanharderwijk.nl.
  • Use this made up ClientID in the SP Dashboard. This ID must be unique in SURFconext; if a link is already in use you will be served an error.
  • The Client Secret is to be obtained from the SURFconext SP Dashboard. See: https://servicedesk.surf.nl/wiki/x/SwOvBw

Statista Configuration

First, start to setup up the Statista Platform by selecting 'Get Started'.

Select the tile 'Custom OIDC' and press 'Next'

In the Create Application screen, copy the callback URL (https://login.statista.com/login/callback) as shown in the screenshot below. This is the redirect URL you need to enter in the SP Dashboard.

In the second step, Configure Connection, you will need to setup the OpenIDConnect well-known end-point of SURFconext:

The .well-known URL is:

Decide if you want to work or production and use the links accordingly. For the ClientID, use the ID as described above (e.g. statista.universiteitvanharderwijk.nl. )

Continue as shown below.

Your configuration will look something like this:

For step 3, there is no real need to map claims. Make sure to use a Persistent Identifier in the SP Dashboard when configuring the ClientID in SURFconext.

In Step four, you are almost done. Click Proceed to Enable the Connection in Statista.

Once connected, and when you have published your instance in SURFconext, and an IdP is connected on test or you have connected your institution's IdP on Production you can test the login. Click test Connection as shown below.

When you login to Statista for the first time, a consent screen will be shown.

Your done! You can login to Statista using SURFconext with OpenID Connect!
