SURFconext Invite allows an institution to easily and securely manage access rights of (groups of) users for applications and systems. Users are given access to applications linked to SURFconext for a certain period of time, based on the role that the institution assigns to the user.

How can I invite people with SURFconext Invite?
The inviter (for example faculty support or onboarding administration of an institution) assigns a role in Invite for a certain period to a user or a group of users, and sends an invitation via Invite to the users' e-mail address. Invite arranges access to the required applications or systems for the specified period. This works as follows.
1. After logging into the application, the inviter will see the following screen:
2. click on 'send new invite'.
3. Select the role to which the (group of) users should be invited.
4. Fill in the email addresses and, if necessary, write a specific message to the invitees.
5. For some roles it is possible to change some settings: invitation expiraty date, role expiraty date, email equality and require eduID to be used to log in. This can only be done if set this way by the administrator, the administrator himself can always do this.
6. Then click 'Send invite' to send the invitation.
How do I create a new role?
To create a role you need to be at least an administrator or 'SURFconext Verantwoordelijke' in SURFconext Invite.
1. Select 'add new role'.
2. Under role details enter the name and description of the role. Choose the application the role gives access to from the 'services' list. Then fill in which web page the user should be directed to in order to log in to the selected service.
3. Next, determine if the following settings are desirable:
- Require login with the same email address the invitation was sent to.
- Require logging in with eduID.
- Determine after how many days the role expires by default.
- Determine whether the inviter may change these settings when sending an invitation to this role.
How does the user get access to the applications?
The user receives an email once the invitation is sent. They then accept the invitation with an eduID or institution account. They then see in Invite what their role is and which applications they have access to. Here is also the link of the application to log in to it.
After the end date, users no longer have access and all information about the users disappears from SURFconext Invite. This works as follows.
1. The user receives an email notification:
2. The user accepts the invitation with eduID or the institution account and sees that a new application is available:
3. After this, the user can click on the application to log in there with eduID or the institution account.
