Docker is a well-known tool to deploy containerized applications. In Research Cloud we offer several ways to use Docker in the cloud:

  1. Docker Environment: a workspace with Docker and Docker Compose preinstalled. You need to set up the container(s) yourself
  2. Docker-based catalog item: create a plugin based on a Dockerfile and offer it as a ready-to-use workspace catalog item
  3. Docker Compose-based catalog item: create a plugin based on a docker-compose.yml file and offer it as a ready-to-use workspace catalog item

Currently, Docker applications in Research Cloud run inside a virtual machine (not on the bare metal host system).
